A day off

I have been doing some boring stuff today... sorting out my room and washing. I then relaxed by watching a couple of programs on the iplayer. One documentary on David Hockney was really good.. he's the most popular living British artist. Like how he combines hi-tech with tradition creating something new. The chinese said: To paint you need three things. Hand Eye and Heart. I believe it is the same for a designer/artist!

The other documentary was on William Egglestone. He was a great photographer capturing something interesting in mundane environments. He also seemed eccentric, really into his guns and woke up his kids in the middle of the night to keep the spontaneous haha, thought that was quite cool. Quite an opposite to the average parent.

His composition is intuitive.. I think I got intuitiveness in my photography as well, i've never really studied it on a formal level. I get a satisfaction by looking through a lens.. it frames what I want to focus on. I get a kick out of a nicely composed image and colour.

I want to know more about the art of storytelling too. . .

U.K Roadtrip

I just finished my degree with an exhibition at the RSA. Friends and family came down and it was nice to see everybody there. The night which was open to the industry was good as well. I met some companies and will now spend some days finding out who to work for/with.

Exciting times, . . I really believe there's a need for good motion designers. The future seems so exciting and I am so happy with my choice of course. It has been a great four years (foundation as well) and it was soo nice to find out that I got a 1st which is the highest grade. This is not something I will brag about but it is at least for myself; a proof that I've been ambitious with my work. It's not even work as such... it's more of a passion and I can keep on discovering and combining my different interests: music, interactivity, communication, meeting people design society and art. The technological advances matter too! Here are some pictures from our English mini-roadtrip

Designed in England. . . yes!
Think this is quite a good photo I took of my Dad. Us swedes are totally OK with wearing pink :)
Somewhere around the cornish coast line, perhaps Dartmouth area. . . we stayed one night in Brixham, I also found a village called Brixton... which was different to London's Brixton indeed. I saw loads of names on streets and villages that are already in London. . . what happened? Also stayed in Padstow, north of Newquay... really nice there.. reminded me of the Swedish westcoast which I strongly recommend.

Car problems? The rental car was leaking, but we figured out that it was condensation from the A/C.

A poor bird who couldn't fly properly because of a plastic bag, i'm myself using organic bags.

Ad - first version

Thinking about animating each object but the render time is unbearable. I need to just disperse the objects and make them integrate. Just like a shattered glass creates a pattern on the floor but in 3D-space.

Making Moenster Promo

I'm making the Mönster-promo in 1920x1080 resolution!

It's created by use of geometrical shapes. Triangles, squares and circles are ordered as in a 2.5D tetris-world where only grey exists. Several hundred shapes fly around chatoicly in space and develops into something ordered and breathtakingly beautiful in its own grey way.

Moenster has as a company itself developed into something more artistic and is at present moment protyped and developed towards installations and other creative forums where the product can be showcased.

Moenster isn't only a brand it is a way of seeing things.

no black.
no white.
only different shades of grey.

Mönster Shoot

This is what the studio set-up looked like after I set it up. I had my laptop, projector and camera next to the table. Then rolled the black paper out as flooring. One issue is that the paper is only 3 meters wide.
The strong light is from an external flash.

Thanks to Gibbe for modeling, Carl for collaborative art-direction and photographing and thanks to fashion graduate 2009 (unknown name) for lending us some excellent looking clothing.

Testing my idea for Panasonic brief

So. . . I was given a brief by Panasonic through my college and took it as my self-initated project. This self-initiated project is meant to be for you to explore anything within moving image. I thought about making a short-film but decided to pick a brief, in this case the Panasonic brief. I chose to work on this brief as I like technology companies and their products. My analysis of the brief tells me that they want to underline the fact that every part of their new G-10 TV is the hub of the 21st century home. The TV is the center of it all, where you can re-live memories and TV, Internet, Film.

The three elements (representend in RGB) Video, Still and Blue Ray DVD can be enjoyed on the G-10 with over 2m pixels, full-HD.

I wanted to play with lasers while exploring this brief. The reason being that I want to illustrate that "It's all connected". The idea is to build a set of mirrors that bounce lasers of each other to create a connection in the end, that being the symbolic for the TV.

The laser look is chosen because of trends and to speak to the target audience. TRON 2 is coming out in two years but is already hyped. This look is very much about neon colours, lines and lasers. It gives a futuristic look which is emphasised by a current film release: Star Trek.
